COMMERICIAL & INDUSTRIAL

For commercial and industrial clients, New Jersey’s Clean Energy program features rebates that can save up to 70% off the cost of installing a solar electric system, low-interest loans for businesses and schools that want to combine energy-efficient and renewable energy technologies, or grants for utility scale projects and startup businesses.

Attractive consumer rebates are available to residential and business customers to help reduce the initial cost of installing a renewable generation system – such as solar electric, wind, or sustainable biomass. These incentives defray the costs of installation, equipment, and interconnection and are paid incrementally based on the size of the system. Eligible technology:

• Fuel cells not fueled by Class I renewable fuel
• Microturbines
• Internal combustion engines
• Gas combustion turbines
• Heat recovery or other mechanical generation equipment

As of Summer 2006:
Due to overwhelming demand, Solar rebate applications for projects in the private sector less than 10 kW and greater than 10 kW are now on a waiting list as funding becomes available.

The New Jersey SREC Program provides an additional source of financing for clean, emission-free solar electricity. Through the program, New Jersey electric suppliers who are required to invest in a minimum amount of solar energy under New Jersey's Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) can buy Solar Rebate Electricity Certificates (SRECs) from solar electric system owners – big and small.

Low-interest loans and grants make it more affordable and cost effective to make investments in renewable energy systems and energy-efficient equipment. Financing programs are designed to help businesses, schools, and municipalities invest in the best-performing equipment, which are designed to realize substantial energy cost savings today and in the future and deliver substantial environmental benefits.
